Important: Frequently asked questions
If you have had a recent infection with COVID-19 but are now feeling well you may still test positive for some time after the original infection. This can make it difficult to fly to some countries which require a negative COVID test result in order to enter the country. Some countries, therefore, accept a coronavirus recovery certificate instead of a negative test result if the infection has been recent and you are now fully recovered.
You will need to have proof of a positive COVID test result and you will need to have been symptom-free in order to qualify for a recovery certificate. Different countries have different rules about how long ago the positive test result can be - ranging from 7 days to 180 days ago.
All adults and children (over 5 years old) who have evidence of a positive COVID-19 test result within 7-180 days (requirements vary by destination) and who have fully recovered from COVID-19. Each application will be individually reviewed by a GMC registered doctor for eligibility.
This depends on your destination country. Some countries only accept tests like a PCR test for confirmation of infection, or will require the test to have been conducted by a healthcare professional; others will accept a rapid antigen test result. Either way, you must submit a notification or certificate confirming the result and showing your name, date of birth and date of the test.
It is widely accepted that if you had a positive result over 7 days ago and have had no symptoms for at least 48 hours you are likely to have recovered from COVID-19. However, some countries require your positive test results to be over 10 or 11 days ago and for you to be symptom-free for over 72 hours so please ensure you check the entry requirements for your destination country.
You can apply for a recovery certificate as long as your test result was over 7 days ago (remember the date of your positive test is Day ZERO) and you have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours. Please carefully check the requirements of your destination country however as some countries have different requirements.
Your application will be reviewed by one of our Doctors who will only issue the certificate if they are satisfied you meet the criteria. If we can’t issue your certificate for any reason we will process a full refund.
We aim to provide your certificate within 6 working hours of submitting your application.
Working hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Sunday (including public holidays).
